Luberon, unusual ground.
Earth where " blows the spirit ",
according to the poête, the ground loaded with history,
the history of these men who shaped the country.
Secret territory and mysterious, ultimate refuge
of wild animals, its face evokes something animal.
Big blue whale, for Jean Giono, refuge of a fantastic bestiary for Henri Bosco,
as it is not said that the origin of the name " Luberon " would result from
this mythical animal, the wolf (loube in Provenþal mean she-wolf)
which still haunted in good density all the wood of the region
hardly more than a century ago.
Some claim that it would be rather about the hare, the "lebre" in Provenþal, (in 1878, it was known under the name of ( Lèberon).
). Be that as it may, the " animal race " played and continues to play a big role for the men of this country
even if the nature of their relations changed well
The Luberon evokes for
the scientists a natural and biologic space
of the highest interest. He owes this peculiarity to his geographic
situation. His position, halfway between the alpine summits and the
banks of the méditerranée, confers him a position of biogeographic
crossroads of first importance
It is in quite 306 sorts of vertebrates that were
counted this day in the perimeter of the Park Among them, birds represent
214 sorts among which 143 nicheuses sorts which add up a little more than
50 % of the French avifaune, more 7 sorts likely nicheuses the status of which is badly known, 4 other sorts are put out(switched off) It is about birds of prey disappeared in recent past,
the vulture wildcat(fawn) and the vulture monk, the golden eagle (a couple nests however near immediate of the Park on the tray of Vaucluse)
and the falcon crécerellette. Finally, there are another 22 sorts of birds winter holiday-makers and 44 other visible sorts
only in migratory passage .
Other biologic
peculiarity of Luberon is to have within it rare and threatened sorts which regrettably
disappeared or declined almost everywhere of their
biotopes in France but also in many of the other countries.
It is in particular about birds of prey as the
eagle of bonelli and the vulture percnoptère.
