THE VALLEY STURA
The
valley Stura di Di demonte, in the province of Cunéo is embedded between the
Maritime Alps and the Alps Cozies.
She is joined to the French regions of the Ubaye and the Tinée by the collar
of the Madeleine.
The Stura stream, that takes his source in the lake of the Madeleine, cross
the whole valley. This valley is characterized by soft slopes in his initial
part and by the typically alpine, rougher landscapes and more pitched , in altitude.
The
Stura valley represented in the past and during a long time, a passageway essential
of communication with France, a way of obligated passage for men and goods.
During centuries, numerous were the defensive constructions erected on all the
territory, as for example the strong part of Vinadio.
In these places of transit, the migratory phenomena, the cultural and commercial
exchanges between the two countries were very important . Consequence in the
time: habits and common customs as well in lived it daily that in the religious
practices.
