ROCCASPAVERA
The
township of Roccasparvera, situated to the entrance of the Stura valley, guard
again today, the aspect of a medieval borough hung to ruins of the castle of
Bolleris.
The township of which one knows the certain existence since 1028 was the object
of biting quarrels, at less during two centuries, between the marquis of Saluzzo,
marquis of Montferrato, the Angevinis, the Viscontis and the Savoie, until the
moment where, in 1356 troops of Franceschino Bolleris, count of Salmour, seized
the Rock.
The
borough is characterised by the presence of ancient traditional and typical
dwellings of the place, with walls in stone and roofs of lauzes, pushed to banks
of the Stura stream, and, also by certain testimonies of the ancient historic
center.
In the central streets, one recovers the fountain, the washer (that carries
the date of 1796) and the church Saint Antoine Abbé (of the XIIe century)
whose recent restoration put in light the ancient frescos of the facade.
